FLU VACCINES 2020

We are getting an increasing number of enquiries regarding the flu vaccine this year.

The vaccine will not be available until the end of September & appointments will not be available to book until at least the beginning of that month.

Due to Covid-19, we are changing the way we run clinics due to social distancing and to ensure the safety of everyone.  We are planning these at the present time and will update this as soon as we can along with details of the eligible groups of patients.

Please note that people in the 50 to 64 year old age group will not be vaccinated until November and December, providing there is sufficient vaccine and no appointments will be offered for this age group until then.  This is to ensure that those who are most at risk are vaccinated first.  If you are 50 to 64 and you are in one of the other groups which is eligible for the flu vaccination, for example you have a health condition which puts you at risk from flu, you will be able to have the vaccine earlier.

Many thanks for your understanding.

FACE MASK EXEMPTION LETTERS

In line with national guidance we will be unable to provide patients with letters to say they are exempt from wearing a face mask to go on public transport or to go into shops.

If you feel unable to do wear even a loose face covering then please follow the links below for more information, self printable exemption cards or lanyards which can be purchased to wear.

FACE MASKS/COVERINGS

As we are slowly returning to normal and seeing more patients in our building, we are following new guidance to ensure patient & staff safety.

We are asking patients who are attending the surgery to wear a face mask or covering.  Upon arrival patients will be asked some safety questions and have their temperature taken.  We thank you all for your cooperation.

20/03/2020 The POD now have an email address you can request your prescriptions from:-  It is shropshire.pod@nhs.net.

18/03/2020

The Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin CCG’s Prescription Ordering Direct (POD) service has been experiencing a huge increase in demand. For example, on Monday the Telford and Wrekin POD service received more than 15,000 calls compared to the usual number of just over 2,000.

We would like to remind people that there is absolutely no need to order your prescriptions earlier than usual, or order more than you need and stockpile. Patients should continue to order their prescriptions as normal, when they are due. We’re also seeing a knock-on effect at our local community pharmacies who are also under a lot of pressure.

We would like to thank all our patients for their cooperation during this time.
